The British Wreck Commissioner's inquiry into the sinking of the RMS Titanic began on Monday, April 22nd, 1912; headed by Lord Mersey. It was an investigation into sinking of the Titanic, performed by maritime experts to prevent a similar disaster from occurring in the future. Over the years the whole Inquiry has been called a "whitewash." The inquiry lasted 36 days. It was preceded by the US Inquiry into the disaster.
