The British Wreck Commissioner's inquiry into the sinking of the RMS Titanic began on Monday, 22 April, 1912, headed by Lord Mersey. It was an investigation into the sinking of the Titanic, performed by maritime experts to prevent a similar disaster from occurring in the future. Over the years the whole Inquiry has been called a ‘whitewash’.The inquiry lasted 36 days. It was preceded by the US inquiry into the disaster.
