Emma is a minor fictional character in Titanic (1953). She was a first-class stewardess on the Titanic and an old acquaintance of Richard Ward Sturges. She was portrayed by actress Ivis Goulding.
Role in the film[]
She first appeared when Titanic had just departed from Cherbourg, where she recognized Richard Sturges who was wandering the first-class hallway. Emma greets Richard, saying that she had met him on Queen Alexandria. Richard apparently still recognizes Emma, remembering that Emma's daughter married a dentist in Plymouth. Emma, confirmed it and Richard asked her where Julia's cabin was. Emma then informed him that the cabins were A-52 and A-54, and said that they had gone to dinner.
Emma reappeared the next day Annette ordered tea breakfast in her cabin. Richard then teased Emma that her cheeks looked very bright, making Emma laugh.
Later that night, she met Richard again and greeted him, but the irritated Richard ignored her, confusing Emma.
When the Titanic sank, Emma remained on the ship helping the passengers to the lifeboat, until she finally boarded the last lifeboat, lifeboat 13.
