Harry John Slight was a Third Class steward of the Titanic. He died in the sinking.
When he signed-on to the Titanic, on April 4th, 1912; Harry gave his address as 48 Bellevue Street, (Southampton). His last ship had been the Majestic. As a third class steward he received monthly wages of £3, 15s. Also serving aboard the Titanic, as the ship's larder cook, was his brother William Slight.
Harry Slight died in the sinking. A few days later, the CS Mackay-Bennett was sent out to recover bodies. The 21st body recovered had the following description:
NO. 21. - MALE. - ESTIMATED AGE, 25-30. HAIR, AND MOUSTACHE, DARK. CLOTHING - Grey tweed coat; Steward's jacket, vest and trousers; washing mark "F". EFFECTS - Watch; keys marked locker 7 "E" deck. STEWARD. |
Because the body was unidentified, it was given an additional description.
21 Male - Age, 25 to 30 Hair, dark; Moustache, light. |
Slight is the only one who matches with all of this, but no identification has been made official.
