"Let's go back...we're ought not to be here anyway...this is first class"

She and her husband reappeared on the Titanic for a night walk on the boat deck. Her husband told her it was jolly cold and tell her to return to their cabin. She agreed, saying that she and her husband really shouldn't be in the first class area.

She and her husband reappeared waiting to get into Lifeboat 12, but after seeing Ida Straus' decision to refuse to leave her husband, Mrs. Clarke also did the same to him. Her husband assured her that he could look after himself, but Mrs. Clarke said they both can.

"No, we're started out together, we'll finish together"

The two of them headed for the First Class Smoke Room, and sat on one of the sofas. Thomas Andrews approached them, saying that there were still two Collapsible Lifeboats, but Mrs. Clarke still doesn't want to go, saying "We're started out together, We'll finish together". Thomas Andrews gave in and advised them to put on their life jacket and immediately leave the ship by using a rope, then swim away from the ship to avoid suction when the Titanic was completely gone, she and her husband thanked Thomas Andrews.

Trivia[]

  • Mrs. Clarke and her husband are a composites of several honeymoon couples, notably Mr. John Chapman and Mrs. Sarah Chapman, a pair of newlyweds from second class who died in the sinking. In real life, when Sarah boarded into lifeboat 4, she found that her husband John couldn't go. She turned back saying. Goodbye' Mrs. Richards. If John can't go, I won't go either. John Chapman's body was recovered by the cable ship Mackay-Bennett, and there were no mentions or indications that his body was crushed, soot-blackened or disfigured in a manner suggesting that he had been killed by a falling funnel. Sarah's body was never found.
