The Titanic hits an iceberg and begins to sink. Isabella reluctantly boards a lifeboat, leaving Wynn behind. As the boat is lowered, Isabella confesses a long kept secret that her daughter Claire is actually Wynn's.
Wynn stays on board Titanic until she's gone, and he dies of hypothermia. His dead body is dredged up by a lifeboat and taken on board the Carpathia. Isabella is grief-stricken when she finds Wynn's lifeless body on deck among other victims who have died of hypothermia. Luckily for her, when the Carpathia reaches New York and she is reunited with her family, Isabella's tryst remains blissfully unknown because the telegram was never sent out due to the sinking.
